Aqueous n-butyl acrylate copolymer dispersions for use as laminating adhesives

   
   

The present invention provides aqueous polymer dispersions comprising at least one particulate polymer P having a glass transition temperature T.sub.g of less than 0.degree. C. which is composed of ethylenically unsaturated monomers M including: i. from 60 to 94.9% by weight, preferably from 75 to 89.5% by weight, of n-butyl acrylate as monomer M1, ii. from 5 to 39.9% by weight, preferably from 10 to 24.5% by weight, of at least one monomer M2 selected from esters of methacrylic acid with C.sub.1 to C.sub.4 alkanols, tert-butyl acrylate, and vinylaromatic monomers, and iii. from 0.1 to 5% by weight, preferably from 0.5 to 2% by weight, of at least one monomer M3 selected from ethylenically unsaturated compounds having at least one acid group; the proportions of said monomers M1 to M3 being based on 100% by weight of monomers M, obtainable by free-radical aqueous emulsion polymerization of monomers M in the presence of at least 0.01% by weight, based on the weight of the monomers M, of at least one molecular weight regulator. The present invention also provides for the use of such polymer dispersions in adhesive formulations for producing laminates, a process for producing laminates, and the laminates obtainable by this process.

A invenção atual fornece as dispersões aqueous do polímero que compreendem ao menos um polímero particulate P que tem uma temperatura de transição de vidro T.sub.g de menos do que 0.degree. C. que é composto dos monomers ethylenically unsaturated M including: i. 60 a 94.9% pelo peso, preferivelmente 75 a 89.5% pelo peso, do acrylate n-butyl como o monomer M1, ii. 5 a 39.9% pelo peso, preferivelmente 10 a 24.5% pelo peso, ao menos de um monomer M2 selecionado dos esters do ácido methacrylic com o C.sub.1 aos alkanols C.sub.4, acrylate tert-tert-butyl, e monomers vinylaromatic, e iii. 0.1 a 5% pelo peso, preferivelmente 0.5 a 2% pelo peso, ao menos de um monomer M3 selecionado dos compostos ethylenically unsaturated que têm ao menos um grupo ácido; as proporções dos monomers ditos M1 a M3 que está sendo baseado em 100% pelo peso dos monomers M, obtenível pela polimerização aqueous livre-radical do emulsion dos monomers M na presença ao menos de 0.01% pelo peso, baseada no peso dos monomers M, ao menos de um regulador do peso molecular. A invenção atual fornece também para o uso de tais dispersões do polímero em formulations adesivos para produzir lamina, um processo para produzir lamina, e lamina obtenível por este processo.
