This invention relates to new double salts of (-)-hydroxycitric acid with group II metals. Preferred double salts are calcium and magnesium double salts of hydroxycitric acid of the formula II. This invention also includes a process for the preparation of these double salts by the addition of one metal compound from group II to (-)-hydroxycitric acid solution followed by the addition of other metal compound solution from group II. These double salts are tasteless and are soluble in water. They are useful as dietary supplements and in beverages. ##STR00001##
