The present invention provides a method for producing an enantiomerically enriched .alpha.-(phenoxy)phenylacetic acid compound of the formula (I): ##STR00001## from its enantiomeric mixture, where R.sup.1 is alkyl or haloalkyl R.sup.7 is heteroalkyl and X is halide.
