An organic compound useful for detecting the total quantity of isocyanate in an environmental sample is provided. The compound is 9-anthrcenylmethyl-1-piperazinecarboxylate (PAC), an isocyanate derivatizing agent. A process for producing PAC and methods for detecting a particular isocyanate monomer or the total isocyanate in environmental samples using PAC & related isocyanate derivatizing agents are also provided.

Ein organisches zusammengesetztes nützliches für das Ermitteln der Gesamtquantität des Isozyanats in einer Klimaprobe wird zur Verfügung gestellt. Das Mittel ist 9-anthrcenylmethyl-1-piperazinecarboxylate (PAC), ein derivatisierendes Vertreter des Isozyanats. Ein Prozeß für das Produzieren von von PAC und Methoden für das Ermitteln einer bestimmten Isozyanatmonomere oder des Gesamtisozyanats in den Klimaproben mit PAC u. derivatisierenden Vertretern des in Verbindung stehenden Isozyanats werden auch zur Verfügung gestellt.
