A formulation for treating obesity and associated metabolic syndrome. The formulation is a combination of especially selected vegetable extracts: Green tea extract containing epigallocatechin galate (EGCG), Coleus forskholii extract, Betula alba extract, and Guarana or Yerba Mate extract. Based upon clinical in vivo and in vitro studies, use of the formulation was found to help in the treatment of obesity and associated co-morbidities. One of the most important advantages of the formulation of the invention, apart from the acceleration of weight loss, is the prevention of weight regain after the termination of a slimming cure.
