The present invention provides a compound represented by the formula: ##STR00001## wherein each symbol is as defined in the specification. Since the compound of the present invention has superior hypoglycemic action and superior hypolipidemic action, it is useful as an agent for the prophylaxis or treatment of diabetes, hyperlipidemia, impaired glucose tolerance and the like.
