The present invention relates to genetically modified plant cells and
plants in which the genetic modification leads to a reduction in GBSSI,
SSIII and BEI activity in comparison to the activity in corresponding
wild type plant cells or wild type plants. Furthermore, the present
invention relates to methods for the production of such plant cells and
plants. The present invention also relates to the starch produced by the
plant cells of the invention or plants of the invention, as well as to
methods for the production of this starch and derivatised starch.
