The invention relates to malonamide derivatives of formula ##STR00001## wherein A.sup.1, A.sup.2, R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, and R.sup.4 are as defined herein and to pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts, optically pure enantiomers, racemates or diastereomeric mixtures thereof for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease.
