The invention encompasses a series of pyrimidinone compounds which inhibit HIV integrase and thereby prevent viral integration into human DNA. This action makes the compounds useful for treating HIV infection and AIDS. The invention also encompasses intermediates useful for making the pyrimidone compounds.
