A method for the promotion of growth and/or repair of neurons in diseases or conditions characterised by neuron degeneration, injury or impaired plasticity which method comprises the administration of an effective, non-toxic and pharmaceutically acceptable amount of a PPAR.gamma. agonist or a pharmaceutically acceptable derivative thereof.
