A cold cathode fluorescent lamp includes a light-emitting tube made from
borosilicate glass doped with 5.1 9.0 wt % of an ultraviolet light
absorbent, the light-emitting tube having phosphors coated on an inner
surface thereof, and mercury and a rare gas enclosed therein. As a
result, 313 nm UV light in addition to 254 nm UV light is sufficiently
blocked, thus enabling the provision of cost-effective CCFLs that do not
readily cause a reduction in the surface brightness of backlight units.
