A method for producing aluminum hydroxide, comprises the steps of: elevating a temperature of a slurry having agglomerated secondary particles of aluminum hydroxide obtained through the Bayer's process suspended in a sodium aluminate solution from not more than 70.degree. C. to not less than 85.degree. C. within 15 minutes, thereby disintegrating the agglomerated secondary particles; and retaining, for a period of at least 15 minutes from temperature elevation, the temperature of the slurry so as not to be lowered to not less than 80.degree. C.
