The invention relates to a system (120) that makes recommendations on what to wear. Clothes (101 105) are tagged (106 110) so that taking them out of storage (100) can be detected. Using this information, a user profile is updated. This way, the system (120) learns from the user's behavior and is able to generate more accurate recommendations over time. The user profile can be stored on a smart card (320), so a user can use it in a shop to buy new clothes that fit with his current set (101 105). The user profile can also be used for targeted advertising.
