An optical transceiver providing a carrier; a cover couplable to a portion of the carrier to define a transceiver enclosure; and, an electro-optical assembly supported in the enclosure is provided. A coupling mechanism and cooperating structure are particularly adapted to define pivoting motion of the cover relative to the carrier, whereby interference of the cover and the electro-optical assembly is avoided.
