The intermediate layer (4) is formed from a thermally sprayed material with open cells such as a ceramic. The open cells of the intermediate layer (4) permit intrusion of fluoropolymer therein. The intermediate layer (4) binds the surface of the roller body (2) with the fluoropolymer layer (3).
