A communication apparatus includes a scanner configured to scan a document to
obtain
binary image data, an adder that adds paper size information to the obtained binary
image data and a converter that converts the binary image data, including the paper
size information, into e-mail data. A transmitter transmits the converted e-mail
data, including the paper size information to a destination terminal over a network
so that the destination terminal can determine whether to downsize the binary image
data in the e-mail data in accordance with the paper size information.
