A cationic Group 3 or Lanthanide metal complex for coordination polymerization
of olefins is disclosed. The precursor metal complex is stabilized by an anionic
amidinate ancillary ligand. Upon reaction with an activator, the complex becomes
an active olefin-polymerization catalyst. Some invention processes give narrow
polymer polydispersities.
