A complementary comb filter pair, and method for making same, are described,
wherein
each comb filter element of the complementary pair can be fabricated during the
same deposition run. The complementary comb filter is masked so as to retard the
thin film growth of the coating, for example, a dielectric material, so as to produce
a desired wavelength transmission profile.
