Tristate electrochromic device

   
   

An electrochromic medium for use in a tristate electrochromic device, comprising: (a) at least one solvent; (b) at least one anodic material; (c) at least one cathodic material, wherein both of the anodic and cathodic materials are electroactive and at least one of the anodic and cathodic materials is electrochromic; (d) wherein, in a first state, the electrochromic medium exhibits a maximum light transmission; (e) wherein, in a second state, variable attenuation occurs to a significant extent in one of visible radiation or near-infrared radiation without significant attenuation in the other; and (f) wherein, in a third state, variable attenuation occurs to a significant extent in the other spectral region.

Un medio electrochromic para el uso en un dispositivo electrochromic de triple estado, abarcando: (a) por lo menos un solvente; (b) por lo menos un material anódico; (c) por lo menos un material catódico, en donde ambos materiales anódicos y catódicos son electroactive y por lo menos uno de los materiales anódicos y catódicos es electrochromic; (d) en donde, en un primer estado, el medio electrochromic exhibe una transmisión ligera máxima; (e) en donde, en un segundo estado, la atenuación variable ocurre a un grado significativo en uno de radiación visible o de radiación cercano-infrarroja sin la atenuación significativa en el otro; y (f) en donde, en un tercer estado, la atenuación variable ocurre a un grado significativo en la otra región espectral.
