Cosmetic compositions containing a micronized metal oxide along with a
4-substituted resorcinol derivatives of the general formula I exhibit
improved storage stability:

where each R.sub.1 and R.sub.2, independently, represents a hydrogen atom,
--CO--R (acyl group), --COO--R, CONHR; where R represents saturated or
unsaturated, linear, branched or cyclic C.sub.1 -C.sub.18 hydrocarbon
groups; and
R.sub.3 represents (1) an alkyl group, having from 1 to 18 carbon atoms,
preferably having from 2 to 12 carbon atoms, with or without substitution
of one or more hydrogen atoms of a linear alkyl group with a methyl or
ethyl group; e.g., R.sub.3 constitutes linear or branched chain alkyls, or
(2) a group of the general formula formula (II)

Where X is preferably H, n is 0 to 3 and the dashed lines represents an
optional double bond.
Kosmetische samenstellingen die een micronized metaaloxyde samen met een 4-gesubstitueerde resorcinolderivaten bevatten van de algemene formule stel ik betere opslagstabiliteit tentoon: ## STR1 ## waar elke R.sub.1 en R.sub.2, onafhankelijk, een waterstofatoom vertegenwoordigen, -- Co -- R (acyl groep), -- COO -- R, CONHR; waar R verzadigd of onverzadigd vertegenwoordigt, lineair, vertakte zich of cyclische C.sub.1 - C.sub.18 koolwaterstofgroepen; en R.sub.3 vertegenwoordigt (1) een alkyl groep, die van 1 tot 18 koolstofatomen heeft, bij voorkeur hebbend van 2 tot 12 koolstofatomen, met of zonder substitutie van één of meerdere waterstofatomen van een lineaire alkyl groep met een methyl of ethylgroep; E.g., R.sub.3 Vormt lineaire of vertakte ketting alkyls, of (2) een groep de algemene formuleformule (II) ## STR2 ## waar X bij voorkeur H is, n is 0 tot 3 en de gestormde lijnen vertegenwoordigt een facultatieve dubbele band.
