Couplers for hair coloring compositions for oxidative dyeing of hair are
compounds of formula (1):

wherein X is selected from halogen; R.sup.3 is selected from the group
consisting of C.sub.1 to C.sub.2 alkyl and hydroxyethyl; and R, R.sup.1
and R.sup.2 are each independently selected from C.sub.1 to C.sub.22 alkyl
or C.sub.1 to C.sub.22 mono or dialkyl groups, or two of R, R.sup.1 and
R.sup.2 together with the the nitrogen atom to which they are attached
form a C.sub.3 to C.sub.6 cycloaliphatic or a C.sub.3 to C.sub.14 aromatic
group, the cycloaliphatic or aromatic group optionally containing in their
rings one or more hetero atoms selected from O, S and N atoms.
Koppler für Haarfarbtonaufbau für das oxydierende Färben des Haares sind Mittel von Formel (1): ## STR1 ## worin X vom Halogen vorgewählt wird; R.sup.3 wird von der aus C.sub.1 zum Alkyl C.sub.2 bestehenden und Hydroxyäthyl- Gruppe vorgewählt; und R, R.sup.1 und R.sup.2 sind jedes, das unabhängig von C.sub.1 zu Alkyl C.sub.22 vorgewählt werden oder C.sub.1 C.sub.22 zu den Mono- oder Dialkyl- Gruppen, oder zwei von R, R.sup.1 und R.sup.2 zusammen mit dem Stickstoffatom, zu dem sie angebrachte Form ein C.sub.3 zu cycloaliphatischem C.sub.6 oder C.sub.3 zur aromatischen Gruppe C.sub.14 sind, cycloaliphatische oder aromatische Gruppe, die beliebig in ihren Ringen ein oder mehr hetero Atome enthält, wählten O, S und N von den Atomen vor.
