To determine the temperature profile (Tm(t)) of a hot-rolled material (1) in a cooling line (5), a heat conduction equation which takes the following form ##EQU1## where e is the enthalpy, .lambda. the thermal conductivity, p the degree of phase transformation, .rho. the density and T the temperature of the rolled material at the rolled-material location and t is the time, is solved in a cooling-line model (4).
