There is provided a method for producing an optically active
salicylaldimine copper complex, which method is characterized in that an
optically active amino alcohol compound represented by the following
formula (1) is reacted with copper hydroxide (II) in an organic solvent:

wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 which are the same or different, each represent
lower alkyl groups and the like which may be substituted, X.sup.1 and
X.sup.2 which are the same or different, each represent a hydrogen atom,
lower alkyl groups and the like, and the symbol * designates an asymmetric
carbon atom.
È fornito un metodo per produrre un complesso otticamente attivo del rame di salicylaldimine, che il metodo è caratterizzato in quanto un residuo amminico otticamente attivo dell'alcool rappresentato dalla seguente formula (1) è reagito con idrossido di rame (ii) in un solvente organico: ## del ## STR1 in cui R.sup.1 e R.sup.2 che sono gli stessi o differenti, ciascuno rappresentano i gruppo alchile e simili più bassi che possono sostituirsi, X.sup.1 e X.sup.2 che sono gli stessi o differenti, ciascuno rappresentano un atomo dell'idrogeno, i gruppo alchile ed i simili più bassi ed il simbolo * indica un atomo di carbonio asimmetrico.
