Synthetic hydrotalcites of the general formula [M.sup.2+.sub.1-x M.sup.3+.sub.x (OH).sub.2 ].sup.x+ [A.sup.n-.sub.x/n.multidot.mH.sub.2 O].sup.x- where M.sup.2+ is a divalent cation, M.sup.3+ is a trivalent cation and A.sup.n- is an organic anion selected from straight chain carboxylates of C.sub.16 -C.sub.18 acids, carboxylates of aromatic acids, carboxylates of acrylic acid, unsaturated carboxylates of methacrylic acid, unsaturated carboxylates of vinylacetic acid and C.sub.2 and higher organic acids containing heteroatoms such as nitrogen, phosphorous, sulfur and halogens are disclosed, along with methods of synthesis and uses.

Hydrotalcites sintéticos del fórmula general [ M.sup.2+.sub.1-x M.sup.3+.sub.x (OH).sub.2 ].sup.x+ [ A.sup.n-.sub.x/n.multidot.mH.sub.2 O].sup.x-where M.sup.2+ es un catión bivalente, M.sup.3+ es un catión trivalente y A.sup.n- es un anión orgánico seleccionado de carboxylates de la cadena recta de C.sub.16 - los ácidos C.sub.18, los carboxylates de ácidos aromáticos, los carboxylates del ácido de acrílico, los carboxylates no saturados del ácido methacrylic, los carboxylates no saturados del ácido vinylacetic y de C.sub.2 y ácidos orgánicos más altos que contienen heteroatoms tales como nitrógeno, phosphorous, sulfuro y halógeno se divulgan, junto con métodos de síntesis y de aplicaciones.
