A software-generated purchase verification key is generated and stored on a
computer at the factory where the make-to-order computer is assembled. The
purchase verification key is provided by the computer to an ISP's host
server. The host server attempts to verify the key. If the key is
verified, the ISP establishes a pre-paid account for the owner of the
computer.
