A sideway-projecting light emitting diode (LED) includes an enclosure made
of a light-transmitting material having first and second opposite side
faces. The first side face forms a light-focusing portion. First and
second conductive terminals are fixed in the enclosure and have tails
extending beyond the second side face. A support member made of conductive
materials has an inner end fixed in the enclosure between the first and
second terminals and a remote end extending beyond the side face. A bowl
is formed on the inner end of the support member for receiving and
retaining a chip substantially confronting the light-focusing portion and
electrically connected to the first and second terminals. A heat
dissipation plate is mounted to the remote end of the support member for
enhancing heat dissipation of the light emitting diode which in turn
allows for increased power consumption of the light emitting diode and
increased brightness of the light emitted from the light emitting diode.
By edge-mounting the light emitting diode to an edge of a circuit board
with the tails of the terminals soldered to the circuit board, light
emitted from the chip is allowed to project through the light-focusing,
portion in a sideway direction with respect to the circuit board.
Uma luz sideway-projetando-se que emite-se o diodo (diodo emissor de luz) inclui um cerco feito de um material luz-transmissor que tem primeiramente e em segundo oposto às caras laterais. A cara do primeiro lado dá forma a uma parcela luz-focalizando. Os terminais primeiramente e em segundo condutores são reparados no cerco e têm as caudas estender além da cara do segundo lado. Um membro da sustentação feito de materiais condutores tem uma extremidade interna reparada no cerco entre os primeiros e segundos terminais e uma extremidade remota que estende além da cara lateral. Uma bacia é dada forma na extremidade interna do membro da sustentação para receber e reter uma microplaqueta que confronta substancialmente a parcela luz-focalizando e conectada eletricamente aos primeiros e segundos terminais. Uma placa da dissipação de calor é montada à extremidade remota do membro da sustentação para realçar a dissipação de calor do diodo emitindo-se claro que permite por sua vez o consumo de potência aumentado do diodo se emitindo claro e do brilho aumentado da luz emissora do diodo se emitindo claro. Pela borda-montagem o diodo emitindo-se claro a uma borda de uma placa de circuito com as caudas dos terminais soldados à placa de circuito, claro emissor da microplaqueta é permitido projetar-se com luz-focalizar, reparte em um sentido sideway com respeito à placa de circuito.
