Process for the preparation of 3-aminoalkanoic acid esters of the general
formula:

in which R is C.sub.1-6 -alkyl and R.sup.1 is hydrogen, C.sub.1-6 -alkyl or
phenyl, or their salts, by catalytic hydrogenation of the corresponding
3-amino-2-alkenoic acid esters of the general formula:

in which R and R.sup.1 have the above mentioned meanings. The hydrogenation
is carried out in the presence of a strong acid and the salt of the
3-aminoalkanoic acid ester (I) and the strong acid formed is optionally
converted into the free 3-aminoalkanoic acid ester (I) or into another
salt in a manner known per se.
Procedimento per la preparazione degli esteri acidi 3-aminoalkanoic della formula generale: ## del ## STR1 in quali R è C.sub.1-6 - l'alchile e R.sup.1 è idrogeno, C.sub.1-6 - alchile o fenile, o i loro sali, tramite idrogenazione catalitica degli esteri acidi corrispondenti 3-amino-2-alkenoic della formula generale: ## del ## STR2 in quali R e R.sup.1 hanno i significati suddetti. L'idrogenazione è effettuata in presenza di un acido forte ed il sale 3-aminoalkanoic dell'estere acido (i) e dell'acido forte formato facoltativamente è convertito 3-aminoalkanoic in estere acido libero (i) o in altro sale in un modo conosciuto per se.
