There is disclosed a power supply apparatus which can reduce consumption
power while an electronic device such as a printing apparatus or the like
is not in use irrespective of the scale of a control circuit of that
device. Such unit supplies electric power from a battery 308 to detect an
ON instruction of a power switch 401 even after an OFF instruction to the
power switch is detected, so as to detect the ON/OFF instruction to the
power switch 401 which is used for controlling electric power supply from
a power supply circuit 20 to a print controller 30 of the printing
apparatus, and controls to stop power supply from the power supply unit 20
to the print controller 30 upon detecting an OFF instruction to the power
switch 401.
