In a cast-iron disc brake rotor (1), each of an outer sliding surface (2a) and an inner sliding surface (3a) is covered with a phosphate coating (8) by electrolysis of a phosphate coating solution containing therein phosphate ions, zinc ions and nitrate ions. This makes it possible to attain dramatically improved rust preventive performance for the sliding surfaces (2a) and (3a). The phosphate coating (8) has a thickness of 1 to 10 .mu.m, a mass of 4 to 35 g/m.sup.2 and a grain size of less than 50 .mu.m. Preferably, the thickness of the phosphate coating (8) is adjusted to 2 to 8 .mu.m.

Em um rotor do freio de disco do ferro fundido (1), cada uma de uma superfície de deslizamento exterior (2a) e de uma superfície de deslizamento interna (3a) é coberta com um revestimento do phosphate (8) pelo electrolysis de uma solução revestindo do phosphate que contem nisso íons do phosphate, íons do zinco e íons do nitrate. Isto faz possível alcançar o desempenho preventivo dramàtica melhorado da oxidação para as superfícies de deslizamento (2a) e (3a). O revestimento do phosphate (8) tem uma espessura do mu.m 1 a 10, de uma massa de 4 a 35 g/m.sup.2 e de um tamanho de grão menos do mu.m de 50. Preferivelmente, a espessura do revestimento do phosphate (8) é ajustada ao mu.m 2 a 8.
