The present invention provides a green emitting phosphor which includes an excess of the ordinary SiO.sub.2 component included in parent material Y.sub.2-2x SiO.sub.5 activated by Tb in terms of stoichiometric ratio. The composition of the above phosphor is represented by chemical formula: {(Y.sub.1-y-z M.sub.y Gd.sub.z).sub.1-x Tb.sub.x }.sub.2 (Si.sub.1-b Ge.sub.b O.sub.2).sub.1+a O.sub.3 where values of x, y, z, a, and b are assigned, subject to 0 La présente invention fournit un phosphore d'émission vert qui inclut un excès de l'inclus SiO.sub.2 composant ordinaire en matériel de parent Y.sub.2-2x SiO.sub.5 activé par Tb en termes de rapport stoechiométrique.
