A rotating anode X-ray tube suitable for use in CT installations has a
vacuum housing in which a cathode that emits electron beams is rigidly
arranged and in which an anode that emits X-rays is rotatably arranged.
The anode is arranged at a rotary body that, facing toward the cathode,
has a focal path composed of target material that melts during operation
of the tube. The rotary body is designed so that the melting target
material is held to the anode due to the centrifugal forces of the rotary
body when rotating around the cathode.
