The invention relates to tris-(oxalato)phosphates of the general formula
M[P(C.sub.2 O.sub.4).sub.3 ] wherein M=H, a metal or N(R.sup.1 R.sup.2
R.sup.3 R.sup.4), where R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4, are
independently H or an alkyl group comprising 1 to 8 C atoms. The invention
also relates to a method for preparing such compounds as well as to their
use.
