The invention relates to a process for preparing ethylenediphosphonic acids of the formula I, ##STR1## where R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 may be identical or different and are hydrogen, a carboxy group, a carboxylic acid derivative, an unsubstituted or substituted alkyl group having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms, phenyl, benzyl, or alkyl-substituted aromatic systems, which comprises reacting phosphorous acid (H.sub.3 PO.sub.3) directly with alkynes.

La invención se relaciona con un proceso para preparar los ácidos ethylenediphosphonic del fórmula I, ## del ## STR1 donde R.sub.1 y R.sub.2 pueden ser idénticos o diferentes y son hidrógeno, un grupo del carboxy, un derivado ácido carboxylic, un grupo alkyl sin sustituir o substituido que tiene a partir 1 a 10 átomos de carbón, el fenilo, benzyl, o los sistemas aromáticos alkyl-substituted, que abarca reaccionar el ácido phosphorous (H.sub.3 PO.sub.3) directamente con los alkynes.
