A process for the continuous anionic polymerization or copolymerization of
styrene or diene monomers using an alkali metal alkyl compound as
polymerization initiator is carried out in the presence of an alkyl- or
arylmetal compound of an element which occurs in at least divalent form as
rate regulator, preferably under non-isothermal conditions and without
back-mixing in a tubular or tube-bundle reactor, preferably using an
alkyl- or arylmetal compound A of the formula R.sup.1 M.sup.1 and an
alkyl- or arylmetal compound B of the formula R.sup.2.sub.n M.sup.2 in a
molar ratio between B and A of from 0.1:1 to 500:1, where
M.sup.1 is Li, Na or K;
R.sup.1 is hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.20 -alkyl, C.sub.6 -C.sub.20 -aryl, or
C.sub.7 -C.sub.20 -alkyl-substituted aryl;
M.sup.2 is an n-valent element from group 2a, 2b or 3a of the Periodic
Table; and
R.sup.2 is hydrogen, halogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.20 -alkyl or C.sub.6 -C.sub.20
-aryl; and a special anionic polymerization initiator containing no Lewis
base.
Ein Prozeß für die ununterbrochene anionische Polymerisierung oder die Kopolymerisierung der Styrol- oder Dienmonomeren, die ein Alkalimetallalkylmittel als Polymerisierunginitiator verwenden, wird in Anwesenheit eines Alkyl- oder arylmetal Mittels eines Elements durchgeführt, das mindestens in der zweiwertigen Form als Rate Regler, vorzugsweise unter Nichtisothermalbedingungen auftritt und ohne in einem röhrenförmigem oder Schlauch-Bündel Reaktor zurück-zu mischen, vorzugsweise mit einem von des Alkyls oder arylmetal Mittel A der Formel R.sup.1 M.sup.1 und einem Alkyl- oder arylmetalmittel B der Formel R.sup.2.sub.n M.sup.2 in einem molaren Verhältnis zwischen B und A von von 0.1:1 bis 500:1, wo M.sup.1 Li, Na oder K ist; R.sup.1 ist Wasserstoff, C.sub.1 - C.sub.20 - Alkyl, C.sub.6 - C.sub.20 - Aryl oder C.sub.7 - C.sub.20 - alkylsubstituiertes Aryl; M.sup.2 ist ein n-valent Element von der Gruppe 2a, 2b oder 3a der periodischen Tabelle; und R.sup.2 ist Wasserstoff, Halogen, C.sub.1 - C.sub.20 - Alkyl oder C.sub.6 - C.sub.20 - Aryl; und ein spezieller anionischer Polymerisierunginitiator, der keine Lewis Unterseite enthält.
