The present invention provides a novel organic compound capable of simultaneously emitting fluorescence and phosphorescence. The organic compound according to the present invention is an organic compound consisting of only elemental hydrogen and at least two kinds of elements selected from the group consisting of elements belonging to the thirteenth group to the seventeenth group of the second period to the fifth period of the periodic table, and being capable of simultaneously emitting fluorescence and phosphorescence at a temperature of from -30.degree. C. or more and 100.degree. C. or less.
