A method for radio communication in a wireless local area network including at least one transceiver equipped with an antenna with a controlled directivity pattern, according to which, in addition to the assignment in advance of the threshold value of communication quality H.sub.0 corresponding to the minimum pre-specified communication quality, the current value of communication quality Q.sub.cur is periodically determined based on the signal being received, the threshold value of the communication quality H.sub.max (corresponding to the pre-specified maximum communication quality) is also additionally assigned in advance. With the current value of communication quality Q.sub.cur being grater than or equal to the upper threshold value H.sub.max, the information exchange is continued, while with the current communication quality value Q.sub.cur being less than the upper threshold value H.sub.max, but greater than or equal to the lowest threshold value H.sub.0, the information exchange is also continued and the procedure for the optimization of antenna beam direction is carried out after a pre-specified time interval T.
