Embodiments of the present disclosure provide method and devices for repairing computer files that impair network communications. In this regard, one embodiment of such a method, among others, can be broadly summarized by the following steps: extracting information corresponding to settings for network communications from a local resource file, wherein the local resource file is embedded within an application executed by a computer for repairing the files impairing network communication on the computer; and replacing information within a registry of the computer with at least a portion of the extracted information, wherein the replaced information includes settings pertaining to facilitation of network communications on the computer.
