The present invention provides a compound of formula (I) ##STR00001## or its salts or pharmaceutically acceptable derivatives thereof, wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3, R.sub.4, R.sub.5, X.sub.1, and j are defined herein. The compounds are useful as potassium ion channel inhibitors.
