An electrolyte for a lithium secondary battery comprises lithium salts including LiPF.sub.6 and LiBF.sub.4; a non-aqueous organic solvent including an organic solvent with high boiling point; and vinylene carbonate.The electrolyte may inhibit battery swelling at high temperature storage and may improve battery cycle-life characteristics.
