Small molecule polycationic agents are used to modulate or interrupt biological processes by binding to oligosaccharide-based biomolecules. Compounds that inhibit nitric oxide, TNF.alpha. or other immunomodulators are provided and are useful for treating immunological disease and disease of an infectious disorder.
