A bone fixation system for stabilizing two skeletal structures relative to one another, the system comprising: a fusion cage comprising: an elongated body having a distal end, a proximal end and a central axis extending therebetween; and dovetail screw threads extending along the elongated body such that when the elongated body is disposed in the two skeletal structures, the dovetail screw threads inhibit movement of the skeletal structures relative to one another, even when the skeletal structures are subject to forces other than perpendicular compressive forces.
