A sequence of note data and fingering information corresponding to respective pieces of the note data are supplied, and the supplied note data is displayed on a display. Fingering display information indicative of whether to display the fingering information is stored in association with the respective pieces of the supplied note data. The fingering information corresponding to the respective pieces of the displayed note data is displayed in accordance with the stored fingering display information.
