A camera includes an image transducer mounted within a housing and configured to convert an image focused on the image transducer into a digital image signal, and a control unit coupled to the image transducer and configured to receive the digital image signal and to store the digital image signal in a storage device coupled to the control unit. An RF transceiver is coupled to the control unit and is configured to broadcast an RFID query signal in response to a command from the control unit, and an RFID tag is mounted on the camera and is configured to respond to the query signal with a response signal.
