The invention provides a compound of formula (I) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or prodrug thereof: (I) wherein the groups Q, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4 and R.sup.5 represent various substituent groups, and their use as inhibitors of heparanase. ##STR00001##
