Personal care composition, comprising a first ingredient selected from the group consisting of .alpha.-phenyl butyl nitrone (PBN), PBN doxylcyclohexane radicals, 5,5-dimethyl pyrroline N-oxide (DMPO), .alpha.-(4-pyridyl 1-oxide)-N-tert-butylnitrone (POBN), 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine 1-oxide, 4-hydroxytetramethylpiperidine 1-oxide, and the salts of N-(1-oxido-2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-4-piperidyl)-N,N-dimethyl-N-hydroxyethylam- monium, 3,5-dibromo-4-nitrosobenzenesulfonic acid, 2-methyl-2-nitrosopropane, nitrosodisulfonic acid, .alpha.-(4-pyridyl-1-oxide)-N-t-butylnitrone, 3,3,5,5-tetramethylpyrroline N-oxide, and 2,4,6-tri-t-butylnitrosobenzene, spin-trapping derivatives thereof, and mixtures thereof, a second ingredient selected from the group consisting of particulate materials, panthenol, pantothenic acid derivatives, tanning actives, and mixtures thereof; and a dermatologically acceptable carrier.
