Described are novel mixtures of optical isomers of (i) styralyl alcohol (.alpha.-phenylethyl alcohol) or (ii) styralyl acetate (.alpha.-phenylethyl acetate), fermentation processes for preparing same and organoleptic uses for same as aroma or food flavor ingredients.
