The present invention relates to novel pyridylpyrimidines of the formula ##STR00001## in which R.sup.1, R.sup.2, X, n, Y, Z and R have the meanings given in the disclosure, to a plurality of processes for preparing these compounds, and to their use for controlling pests. This invention further relates to novel intermediates and process for their preparation.
