Compounds having the formula (I) or (II), ##STR00001## are useful as p38 kinase inhibitors, wherein R is an optionally substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl, or aryl; R.sup.6 is hydrogen or lower alkyl; R.sup.7 is hydrogen or a non-interfering substituent, and Q is a non-aromatic moiety as defined in the specification.
