The projection lens system projects projection light from a light modulator onto a screen, wherein the projection lens system is constructed, in order from a screen side thereof, of a first lens group with negative refractive power and a second lens group with positive refractive power and is non-telecentric on an incident side thereof, and the second lens group includes a pair of cemented doublet lenses with positive refractive power whose cemented surfaces face in opposite directions and a cemented triplet lens with positive refractive power.
