The present invention provides a method for forming a liquid crystal
display comprising: providing a liquid crystal display substrate; and
forming a light-shielding film for a display on the liquid crystal
display substrate by coating the liquid crystal display substrate with a
coating liquid containing a binder and fine metal particles, such as fine
silver particles, dispersed in the binder, and optionally a dispersant by
use of a spin coat method, a curtain coat method, or an extrusion method,
and drying the resultant layer, and optionally forming a protective layer
on the layer and exposing the protective layer to light.
